It would be particularly useful if I can automate using VBA, since I know how to then further manipulate the text files using VBA ( Paste Contents from cmd window into text file.JPG : " onclick="window.open(this.href) return false ) I open a text file, and paste the contents from the clipboard into it, ( for example via Key combination Ctrl+v or by selecting the insert option after right mouse clicking when in the text file). ![]() I right click with the mouse at the top of the window again, and this time, select Edit - Copy ( Edit - Copy cmd window.jpg : " onclick="window.open(this.href) return false, " onclick="window.open(this.href) return false ) I right click with the mouse at the top of the window, and select Edit - Select All ( Edit - Select All cmd window.jpg : " onclick="window.open(this.href) return false, " onclick="window.open(this.href) return false ) I now have the black command window console thing full with text that I want to copy. Route print ( route print.jpg : " onclick="window.open(this.href) return false ) Then I type in after the > another command: Ipconfig /all ( ipconfig all.jpg : " onclick="window.open(this.href) return false ) In the black command window console thing which comes up, I type in after the > a command: ( Microsoft Symbol+r cmd OK.jpg : " onclick="window.open(this.href) return false ) I bring up the black command window console thing, for example using _b) help me get more consistent results: Some things which I am looking at react differently if a command is given at a specific time after another: It is difficult to accurately do a command at a specific time when doing them manually.īroadly I can summarise what I am currently doing into two main actions: I was wondering if anyone knows of ways to automate all or some of this. Mostly I am initially needing to do this in XP operating system. ( Black cmd window thing.JPG : " onclick="window.open(this.href) return false, " onclick="window.open(this.href) return false, " onclick="window.open(this.href) return false, " onclick="window.open(this.href) return false, ) One of my Winter computer projects this year involves a lot of tedious similar measurements associated with internal settings, and fiddling with internet stuff… some of which I am currently getting mostly manually via the black cmd window thingy. I think this is a Windows General question, with a possible leaning towards VBA … Hi, festive greetings to everyone, hope you are all well. Thanks for your information, it saves me a lot of time.Operating System Command Prompt Shell Black Window thing: Automating: getting it up Commands copying contents to a text file… An SSH terminal on the other hand can understand each individual letter, and all kind of other control codes, etc. The closest you could get would be similar to taking a screenshot then using free online OCR software to convert the screenshot into text. A VMWare text console is emulating a VGA display device, so all it can see is a "picture" of the screen, and it does not know what the individual characters are, nor where the cursor is, what's highlighted, etc. It makes sense that this is not possible in a Linux text console because a text console is not the same thing as an SSH console. This channel is not available from a text console as it would require changes to the operating system directly, which would have a very big impact that is too high for a simple feature like this. VMware tools allows copy/paste from a GUI environment through back-channel memory access and communication between the host and guest software, so it is not done the same way as a typical copy/paste between applications. It would be nice if VMWare implemented this, but I guess that the audience for such a feature is pretty small. The only way that "paste" would be possible is by emulating the keyboard as if the user is actually typing the data at the keyboard. The closest you could get would be similar to taking a screenshot then using OCR software to convert the screenshot into text. ![]()
